Stray pets seek new homes

An animal shelter is appealing for new homes for abondoned pets it rescued over Christmas. The Blue Cross in Burford, Oxfordshire, took in scores of animals, including new puppies and kittens that now need adoptive families. It is feared some of the strays were bought as Christmas presents and then dumped when owners changed their minds.

Pet owners soaking up the sun on holiday can keep a virtual eye on their pampered pooches at a new luxury kennels near Darlington. A webcam has been installed at the Aeolian House Kennels and Cattery so people away on holiday can keep in touch with their pets.

Animals abandoned over holiday

The RSPCA in the South West is already having to deal with pets abandoned after Christmas. The animal welfare charity has taken in a number of abandoned animals over the last week. In Cornwall a hamster, along with his cage, bedding and food was found tied up in a black bin bag and left out for the rubbish collection in Newquay the day before Christmas Eve.
